This trip totaled approximately 4,000 miles and included many stops - and photos thereof - that are not represented here. Since the weather was quite variable during the trip, we weren't able to get good photos everywhere we went. I tried to include only the best and most interesting of the 240+ photos we took. The majority of these were shot during the two long hikes we took in the Silverton, Colorado area, which was the highlight of the trip. Some of the other places we visited, such as Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park, are not adequately represented here. There are several photos from Mosquito Pass, which was the most exciting segment of the journey.
Unfortunately the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 (Friend's 09/11 Photos of WTC from Jersey City) took place while we were in Durango, CO. To put it mildly those events considerably dampened our enthusiasm, causing us to cut short our visit to Mesa Verde and the Durango - Pagosa Springs area and head immediately to Santa Fe.
There are plenty of photos on some of the pages (Mosquito Pass, Silverton-Rico, and Highland Mary Lakes) so these will load fairly slowly without a broadband internet connection. Please be patient.
If you don't have much time, I suggest that you at least check out the Independence Pass page, to see the excitement we stumbled on there.
